Library
Hello, and welcome to the school library,
My Name is Shelley Allsopp, and I am the Librarian and Literacy Assistant here at Nottingham Girls’ Academy. In the NGA library, we have a collection of fiction and non-fiction books for pupils to borrow and take home to read, as well as magazines for your daughter to read in school. Our fiction section is organised by genre and the non-fiction section is arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System.
The library is open to all pupils at break and lunchtimes for quiet reading, quiet study, completing homework, browsing the shelves, borrowing and returning books. We have tables to study, as well as comfy chairs and sofas for relaxing reading. I am always on hand for any queries, or to help.
We have colourful, stimulating and continuously changing displays representing events and information in the library.
We hold a "Friends Of Fiction Friday" book club on Friday lunch times for those who want to chat and review the books they are reading. Every year we celebrate World Book Day across the school with a variety of activities including quizzes.
All pupils are issued with a library sticker for their diaries as well as a library card to keep in their bags, or pencil cases when they arrive at NGA, and this contains a unique number, just for them! They can use this number to borrow and renew books, as well as browsing the online library catalogue which contains details of all the books in the library, from the comforts of home. They are then able to reserve books too.
Full details of how to access the Library page are on their year groups library Teams page, however, access to the online library catalogue can also be accessed here:
