We want our students to be confident and resilient readers. We want all our students to use effective reading strategies to access all aspects of their curriculum.
We understand that fluent reading enables the successful acquisition of key skills and knowledge. We recognise the relationship between skilled readers and academic achievement.

Reading for Pleasure

Confident readers are more likely to enjoy and read for pleasure. We believe that reading fictional and non-fictional texts will contribute to the emotional and mental wellbeing of our students.
We believe reading is an enriching and joyous experience that develops the mind, allowing students to access different views, opinions and perspectives.
We want students to enjoy the imaginative journey books can offer, taking them to different places, cultures, and people outside of their own experiences.
